The Mariko hotel (ball elasticity ゅく, まりこじゅく) is the 20th posting station of the fifty-three post stations of the Tokaido.
It is written also as Maruko.
Present Mariko, Suruga-ku, Shizuoka-shi, Shizuoka-ken.
The smallest posting station all over Tokaido.
The record for 天保 14 years (1843) says that the number of houses was 211 and the number of inns was 24.
Old rows of houses remain in the Utsu ノ valley (Suruga-ku, Shizuoka-shi) between Okabe and the next hotel (Fujieda).
Moreover, near, the historic relics Mr. [ Genji, / Imagawa ], and connected with Mr. [ Tokugawa ] are のこる.
A noted product is grated yam soup and it can eat it in the "clove store" which Hiroshige drew still now.

Mariko
The Sakou river with which the Sagami bay is filled in Odawara-shi, Kanagawa was called the Mariko river a long time ago.
It is described by the Soga tale and Heike monogatari as a Mariko river.
It is in Tama River with the Maruko bridge again. It is said that it was called Mariko to Taisho Era although う橋 was built.
It is written to the Katai Tayama's "picnic on Tokyo suburbs the first" (present age culture library) as Mariko.
